Orbital Defense Simulator

Orbital Defense Simulator is a 3D space tower defense that combines elements of the RTS and FPS genres by allowing the player to hop between turrets to shoot as well as manage the placement and upgrading of turrets.

Producer:

I was responsible for: setting up and maintaining the Kanban board, assessing where the project is at and delegating tasks, creating deliverables for milestones, communicating across multiple disciplines, and ensuring that we are delivering upon the expectations of professors.

Game Designer:

I was responsible for ensuring that two genres (FPS & RTS) mesh together using distinctive player HUDs and by designing the core gameplay loop to account for when the player would be shooting and when they would be managing. I also created wireframe mockups of player HUDs, menus, and general play space.

UI / UX Designer:

I designed and iterated all UI elements and menus in the game. A primary task was simplifying the management mode UI to make it very easy for the player to understand what they can do. The other big UI that is was overhauled was the turret HUD. I also worked on populating the cockpit with more elements to immerse the player and ensure they feel like they are in a space turret.
